Thank you for your interest in our firearms safety course. Training like this serves as a vital tool to address the potential gaps in responsible firearm ownership. It equips individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to ensure their safety, the safety of others, and the overall well-being of the community. Classes are scheduled throughout the year and advertised on our official Facebook page

Once the course is completed, participants will receive a certificate of completion to include in their concealed weapon permit application, should they choose to obtain one. Each student will also receive an application packet with instructions on how to apply, through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

This FREE 5-hour course includes classroom time and hands-on operational training. Topics covered include:

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants MUST be legally able to possess, own, or be in proximity of a firearm in order to participate in this course.

  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older as of the date of the class and present a valid photo ID upon arrival to the course.

  • Participants may not wear loose hanging clothing.

  • Participants must wear closed-toed shoes.

  • Participants must wear modern manufacturer protective eyewear designed for a shooting environment. If you do not have your own, it will be provided.

  • Participants must wear modern manufacturer hearing protection designed for a shooting environment. If you do not have your own, it will be provided.

  • If you choose to bring a pistol of your own, you must adhere to the below requirements:

  1. The pistol must be a modern manufacturer firearm in good working order.

  2. You must bring a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition in good condition.

  3. The firearm must be unloaded and preferably locked.

  • Who is eligible to attend the firearms safety course?
    The course is open to individuals aged 18 and over as of the date of the course that may legally own, possess, or be in the presence of firearms.
  • Will you allow minors below the age of 18 to attend the course?
    At this time, we are only offering the course to individuals 18 or older but are considering expanding the program in the future. If you are interested, please contact us to express your interest.
  • Do I need to own a firearm to participate in the course?
    No, firearms and necessary equipment are provided for training purposes. You are, however, able to bring your own pistol if you would like. Be sure to refer to the additional information about bringing your own firearm.
  • How long is the firearms safety course?
    The course runs for approximately 5 hours, including both classroom and hands-on sessions.
  • Is prior experience with firearms required?
    No, the course is designed for both beginners and experienced shooters.
  • What should I bring to the course?
    Participants should bring a valid photo ID, wear comfortable clothing, and closed-toe shoes. All other materials are provided.
  • Is there a certification upon completion?
    Yes, participants will receive a certificate of completion that may be required for certain firearm permits.
  • How do I register for the course?
    Registration can be completed online through our website. Links are included on this page.
  • What safety measures are in place during the course?
    We enforce strict safety protocols, including range safety officers' supervision and mandatory protective gear.
  • Can I cancel or reschedule my attendance?
    Yes, you can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before the course.
  • Will the course cover local firearm laws?
    Yes, the course includes an overview of Florida firearms laws.
  • Is there a cost to attend the course?
    At this time, there is no cost to attend the course. However, we have limited availability and if you will be unable to attend we would appreciate you notifying us as soon as you are aware.
  • I cannot legally own a firearm. May I still attend the course?
    In order to attend this course, you must be able to legally own, possess, or be in the presence of firearms.
  • Are there any specific clothing requirements for the course?
    Yes, participants must avoid loose hanging clothing and wear closed-toed shoes for safety.
  • Is protective eyewear necessary for the course?
    Yes, participants must wear modern manufacturer protective eyewear designed for shooting. This will be provided if you don't have your own.
  • Is hearing protection necessary for the course?
    Yes, participants must wear modern manufacturer protective eyewear designed for shooting. This will be provided if you don't have your own.
  • Can I bring my own pistol to the course?
    Yes, but it must be a modern manufacturer firearm in good working order, and you must bring a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition in good condition.2
  • What type of firearms will be used in the course?
    Pistols - we will only train with pistols during this course. No other types of firearms are permitted.
  • Are there any requirements for how to bring my firearm to the course?

  • Will there be firearms available for use if I do not bring my own?
    Yes, firearms and necessary equipment will be provided for those who do not bring their own.
