Mr. Angelo

Mr. Angelo Mario Masi, age 97, died on May 28, 2018. Sheriff Stephen remembered that Mr. Angelo had been coming to the Okeechobee County Jail since he began his career with OCSO.

Sheriff Stephen also remembers that he or one of the other deputies would go to Mr. Angelo’s house every Sunday before day break and pick him up and bring him to the jail where he would preach the Gospel to the men, women and juveniles that were in jail. The deputies would then take him to the Boy’s School where he would preach the Gospel to the boys incarcerated and then late in the afternoon, they would take him home.

Most everybody in Okeechobee, at one time or another, probably saw Mr. Angelo walking. I myself picked him up numerous times to give him a ride. He would always say a blessing and give anyone he met a booklet, pamphlet or a bible. It’s hard to say how many miles Mr. Angelo walked in his lifetime… but he’s now surely walking on the streets of gold in Heaven!
