Operation Beer Buy
The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted “Operation Beer Buy”. Alcohol compliance checks were conducted at random establishments, where an underage person was sent into stores with instructions to attempt to purchase alcohol. These compliance checks are done periodically to make sure the merchants, who sell alcohol, check I.D.’s if there’s any chance the buyer is underage.
None of the stores that were checked sold alcohol to the underage person. We would like to express our gratitude to all of those stores for their compliance with the law. We will continue to conduct these operations from time to time.
The stores that were checked are as follows:
Ft. Drum General Store, 31309 Hwy. 441 North
Metro Gas Station, 14025 Hwy. 441 North
Shenanigan’s, 2237 Hwy. 98 North
Mary Ann’s Corner Liquor Store, 30 Hwy. 98 North
Town Star Gas Station, 1865 Hwy. 70 West
Applebee’s, 1210 Hwy. 70 East
Cowboy’s, 202 NE 7 Avenue
Sheriff Stephen stated, “The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an operation to purchase alcohol using a minor. During the operation, these stores/restaurants were randomly selected. The minor was unable to purchase alcohol at these establishments. I would like to thank you and your staff for following the beverage laws and helping the Sheriff’s Office stop underage drinking.”
